HST 4i – High Speed Train Integration
(2003-2008)

This Interreg III-B project consists of partners from Great Britain, France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands with the goal to improve the connectivity of european regions with a highspeed train network.
In the framework of this project, the regional project management was devised for Parkstad Limburg and Heerlen. stellwerk was responsible for the realisation of 2 new light-rail stations (Eygelshoven-Markt and Heerlen-De Kissel) with a third station in preparation (Heerlen-Woonboulevard).

In the framework of HST4i, we successfully applied for large european grants for the new public transport station Maankwartier.

Through right decision-making, we were able to bring already allocated european funding to the Maankwartier project. The realisation of the hub was accelerated and is now completed and ready which signifies an impressive gain in transportation quality for the city of Heerlen.

In the scope of this project, we worked together very closely with ProRail.

Transnational circuitous road L42n (since 2010)

With the building of the Buitenring Parkstad Limburg will the network of trunk roads in the close to the border netherlands part of the EMR in the next years obviously be revalued. On the german side is, because of the planned complementation of the B56n in Heinsberg, a significant enhancement of the transnational accessibility in sight. Unfortunately is until now an efficient cross-border gap closure between the two infrastructures missing, so that the expected high traffic growth will lead to distant negative consequences for the tight local main-through roads.

On behalf of the Gemeente Landgraaf, stellwerk leads the transnational projectmanagement for planning and building a ring road (L42n) between the Buitenring in Landgraaf over parts of Übach-Palenberg up to the B56 in Geilenkirchen. This includes besides referendums of each national plan also their pictoresque visualisation and the communication with the political decission makers in the region and on the state level, with the goal to realise the road link as soon as possible.
